St. Andrew’s Food Bank & Volunteer Needs:
How the WB Community Can Help
Recent neighborhood social media posts noted the long line waiting for the twice monthly St. Andrews Food Bank to open it’s doors. Several community members asked about the program and how they could help.
St. Andrew’s offers the Food Pantry the 2nd & 4th Saturday of every month from 9:00am–12pm. They partner with the Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) and Austin Diaper Bank, but the funding they receive is limited. Community donations are critical in keeping the program fully functional.
The program serves a variety of clients from the surrounding area who face food insecurity. A light snack is served while clients wait their turn to shop with their guide for packaged food, fresh fruit & vegetables, milk, bread, eggs, seasonal offerings from the St. Andrew’s garden, and toiletries, in addition to child & adult diapers. The St. Andrews institution is an equal opportunity provider. The pantry is always in need of donations, below are the upcoming and ongoing donation opportunities:
SEPT. 28: WBNA Arts at the Library Marketplace
OCT. 1: WBNA/WB MUD National Night Out
OCT. 19: WBNA Pumpkin Patch/Painting Event
Ongoing Donation Drop-box inside the WB Library
Ongoing In-person donations at St. Andrew’s, including gift cards
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church also offers a weekly Thursday Night
Homeless Shower/Dinner opportunity. Both the bi-monthly Food Pantry
and Thursday night outreach are very popular activities, but need volunteers
to run smoothly and provide hospitality to our guests. We have a
group of dedicated volunteers that occasionally need a break from their
regular duties, so if you’re considering some sort of community service,
we would love to provide you information about our programs and hope
that you consider volunteering.
