St. Andrew’s Food Pantry Update

Help your Wells Branch neighbors in need by supporting your local food pantry at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church at 14311 Wells Port Drive.

With increasing levels of food insecurity in our community, the demand for food pantry assistance has grown from an average of 50-60 households served per pantry between 2012-2017 to 201 households in 2024. The number of individuals served has doubled in the past two years.

St. Andrew’s Food Pantry partners with both the Central Texas Food Bank and the Austin Diaper Bank to attempt to meet this growing need, but neither agency can supply all our needed food or hygiene items. Community donations and support are crucial. There are many ways you can help:

Let Amazon do the heavy lifting and order from our Amazon Wishlist and they will be shipped straight to the food pantry. https://tinyurl.com/vdjsv3wh

Drop off non-perishable food items, diapers, period products, etc. at the Wells Branch Community Library donation bin or at St. Andrews. We always need more canned/packaged items such as tuna, green beans, corn, peanut butter, pinto beans, tomato sauce, and mac & cheese.

Donate gift cards from HEB or Dollar Tree – two locations where we purchase many essential items for the food pantry from peanut butter to milk. Gift cards can be mailed or dropped off at St. Andrews; please write “Food Pantry” on the envelope.

Host a food, diaper, or period product drive at your workplace/business/school/etc.

Donate your time by volunteering! We need heavy lifters on some weekdays to help unload food deliveries and restock. We need volunteers (especially Spanish speakers) on pantry Saturdays and produce baggers on the Friday prior to each pantry. Contact Laura Landsman at landsmanlaura@gmail.com to volunteer.

Donate funds to the food pantry by check (add memo “Food Pantry”) or through the St. Andrew’s website: https://onrealm.org/staopen/. Select Food Pantry from the dropdown menu.

Follow us on our new Facebook Page to stay up-to-date with our current donation needs, requests for volunteers, and upcoming pantry dates: www.facebook.com/stafoodpantry

The Food Pantry is open from 9am to noon on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month except for December (2nd Saturday only). Households can select fresh produce, canned/non-perishable food items, bread, milk, meats, diapers, period products, and other essentials. All are welcome!

Thank you for helping us support your Wells Branch neighbors!
