Netiquette for our Listserve

from Dianna Alsup Gielstra [dlalsup@yahoo.com]

Greetings everyone,

In light of recent postings, I wanted to send a friendly reminder regarding “Netiquette.” I use this information when I teach online in my classroom, and it has helped immensely in keeping the points on topic while being respectful to all individuals. I ask that you keep an open mind during the time spent in the our neighborhood forum when responding to myself and others. I suggest if you feel strongly about a topic, write your email, but do not send it immediately. Walk away and take another peek later to make sure that you are keeping an open mind and are responding in a respectful tone. Below is a reminder on how we can stay respectful of one another while communicating in this online environment.

Netiquette

Just as society has rules of conduct governing interactions in the face-to-face environment, the virtual community also has rules of conduct for electronic interactions. The term netiquette is used to refer to online etiquette. Recommendations include the following:

Disc Golf Course has moved!

from Brian Litke –

The 7 baskets from the north side of the Wells Branch disc golf course were removed last Thursday in preparation for placing them on the south end of the course.

The WB Disc Golf Green Team will be doing litter pickup on the north side of Wells Branch Pkwy this Saturday. Wells Branch recently approved a LOT of tree planting along the creek in the area between Wells Branch Pkwy and Wells Port, and we want to make sure the area is clean and looking its best!

Players should start using the new start location for the WB disc golf course:
– From I-35, take exit 247 west on Wells Branch Pkwy.
– Turn left on Owen Tech Blvd.
– Use curb parking on the street across from Whataburger

Covenant Corner – Home Repairs & Yard Maintenance

Cooler temperatures are almost here! Fall is an excellent time to take a close look at your home and evaluate the exterior for necessary repairs. Foliage has died back and it’s easy to see just what needs to be done.

Keeping up the outside of your house is important not only because it’s a condition of the covenants in most sections, but because it helps us all maintain our property values and keeps Wells Branch beautiful.

Our yards have taken a beating with the recent drought and many of us have dead trees or shrubs that need to be removed.

Now that the weather has cooled down, take a moment to assess the work needed and make a plan. It’s worth the investment.

As the cooler temperatures of fall approach, it’s an ideal time to explore some eco friendly home hacks that can help you maintain and beautify your property. With the foliage receding, it becomes easier to spot areas that require attention.

Not only does this align with the covenants in most sections, but it also contributes to preserving our property values and keeps Wells Branch looking beautiful.

Given the toll recent droughts have taken on our yards, consider incorporating eco-friendly practices into your plan, such as sustainable landscaping and water-saving techniques. Investing in these approaches not only benefits your home but also the environment we all share.

As you assess your home’s exterior for fall maintenance, don’t forget the importance of proper gutter installation and upkeep. With the changing seasons, ensuring your gutters are in top shape is crucial to prevent potential issues down the line. Clogged or damaged gutters can lead to water damage and costly repairs.

So, while you’re planning your home’s exterior maintenance, consider addressing any gutter-related concerns as well. And should you ever need emergency gutter repairs Adelaide, it’s wise to have a trusted professional on hand to swiftly address any issues, helping you maintain your property and its value in Wells Branch.

As you diligently assess your home’s exterior for fall maintenance, it’s imperative not to overlook the significance of sewer and drain services. Just like proper gutter installation and upkeep, ensuring the functionality of your sewer and drainage systems is vital to prevent potential issues as the seasons change. Residents in York County, in particular, can benefit from services like video camera inspection, which allows for a thorough assessment of sewer lines to detect any underlying issues before they escalate. By incorporating services such as video camera inspection york county residents can access, enables proactive detection of any underlying issues within your sewer lines, such as blockages or leaks. This proactive approach helps mitigate the risk of costly repairs and water damage, ensuring the continued integrity of your property’s infrastructure.

This investment in your home’s exterior is undoubtedly worthwhile. Similarly, when considering flooring options for your interior spaces, exploring choices like polished concrete flooring Adelaide can provide a harmonious blend of aesthetics and durability, ensuring that your home maintains its charm and value for years to come.

Beyond its aesthetic benefits, polished concrete is renowned for its durability, capable of withstanding heavy foot traffic, spills, and everyday wear and tear.

Its low maintenance requirements make it an excellent choice for busy households, as it can be easily cleaned and maintained, ensuring that your home maintains its charm and value over the years.

when contemplating flooring options for your indoor spaces, exploring alternatives like timber flooring can seamlessly blend aesthetics with durability, safeguarding your home’s enduring charm and value.

Timber flooring, renowned for its natural beauty and robustness, boasts the capacity to endure heavy foot traffic, spills, and the daily wear and tear of a bustling household.

Choosing timber flooring with the option of Timber floor sanding ensures that your home remains a timeless haven of elegance and durability, adding lasting value to your living space.

Much like polished concrete, timber flooring also offers the advantage of minimal maintenance requirements, allowing for easy cleaning and upkeep.

WBNA Welcome Wagon gets off to a GREAT start!

Long ago, in Wells Branch’s younger days, the neighborhood association hosted a Welcome Wagon.  When new residents would move into the neighborhood, they would be greeted by a friendly neighbor and a basket of goodies.  As time progressed, this custom fell by the wayside.

Good News!  It’s BACK!  WBNA board member Linda Baird has taken on this project and has been delivering goody bags to all of our new homeowners in Wells Branch since May.  Linda visited 19 homes in May, 27 in June, 20 in July and 12 in August with another 33 forecast for September.  Thank you, Linda!  The WBNA appreciates all that you do for the neighborhood!

We want everyone to feel a part of this wonderful community.  If you would like to volunteer and help welcome new families to Wells Branch, please contact Linda Baird at welcomewagon@wbna.us.

Welcome, Wells Branch Merchants Association (WBMA)

Submitted by Gus Kohn, President, Friends of the WB Community Library

“Keeping it Local” by buying Wells Branch, increases revenue for the library and fire districts by increasing sales tax generated within the districts.  With the purpose of growing community and merchant involvement, the Friends of the Wells Branch Community Library and the ESD No. 2 met with Wells Branch business owners in August to form a new group: the Wells Branch Merchants Association.

The Wells Branch Community Library District and the Emergency Services District No. 2 derive a substantial amount of their total revenue from ½% sales tax within the districts. It is to their advantage to support and promote “shopping local” so that neighbors support businesses within the district whenever possible. A meeting was held August 31st at the Library at which six businesses within the WBCL & ESD No.2 districts were represented. We think that was a great turnout for a Friday afternoon before a holiday!   Another meeting is proposed to include more businesses in the district for planning and organization.

A listserv for Wells Branch Merchants was established.  If you are a Wells Branch merchant and would like to join the WBMA list serve so that you may receive updates on their meetings and activities please email: wbmerchants@gmail.com.   You don’t have to have a store front to join; all merchants in Wells Branch are welcome!

We all hope this association will be a big success and look forward to watching it grow.  It’s a great opportunity for business owners to meet and share ideas, concerns and collaborate on marketing.  Watch the neighborhood association website for updates at www.wbna.us=>community=> wb-merchants-association.

And there’s something very professional about having a Virtually There Birmingham virtual business address, giving clients a prime city address to recognise without the overheads of a physical space. It’s been ideal for my own setup, as I can establish a solid business presence in Birmingham while still managing everything remotely. Clients find it reassuring to see a reputable address, which adds a touch of credibility that’s sometimes challenging to convey otherwise.
