Travis County Sheriff’s Office Wells Branch Crime Initiative Town Hall Meeting

November 28 • 7pm
WB Community Center • 2106 Klattenhoff Drive

Join Captain Craig Smith for a Town Hall Meeting on November 28 for a discussion on Travis County’s ongoing crime initiative in Wells Branch.  Sheriff Hernandez and Travis County Commissioners Brigid Shea and Jeff Travillion will be in attendance as well.  Following Captain Smith’s presentation, the Captain, Sheriff, and Commissioners will be available to speak with residents.

WB Meeting with State Rep. Celia Israel & TxDOT Mobility35 Team

November 16 • 7pm
WB Community Center • 2106 Klattenhoff Drive

State Representative Celia Israel will be coming by Wells Branch to meet with residents, and give a summary of the 85th Regular and Special Called Session.

Members of TxDOT’s Mobility35 Team will also be there to let people know about upcoming road projects in the area.  It looks like they’re finally ready to talk about IH35 and WB Pkwy.

TCSO Public Safety Event!

The Travis County Sheriff’s Office will host a Public Safety Event on Sunday November 5th from 10am – 4pm. The event will be held at the Cinemark 20 (Tinseltown) parking lot in the 15400-blk of N IH 35. Representatives from various Law Enforcement and Public Safety groups will be on site to offer valuable safety information and services including:

  • TCSO Community Outreach – Providing Child ID Kits
  • Sheriff’s Combined Auto Theft Task Force – Providing Free VIN Etching (proof of insurance required)
  • TCSO Crisis Intervention Team – Providing information about emergency mental health care resources
  • TCSO Victim’s Services – Providing information and resources for victims of crime
  • TCSO Mascot – On site for fun photo opportunities

Halloween Events in Wells Branch

Trick-or-Treating & Face Painting at the Library

WBNA Halloween Costume Contest

WB Community Center Parking Lot

Calling all princesses, monsters, super-heroes and other-worldly beasts!  Since Halloween is on a weeknight, we’ll be holding our annual costume contest at the CC beginning at 6pm sharp!

Trophies will be awarded by age in the following categories:  Cutest, Spookiest, and Most Creative beginning with the youngest contestants.  Age groups are as follows:  0-3yrs, 4-6yrs, 7-9yrs, 10-12yrs, 13-17yrs.  Come join in the fun!

Ghosts, Ghouls, and Goblins abound in the CC parking lot on Klattenhoff where there be a multitude of scary treats for all your little monsters as the WB MUD Parks & Rec. Dept. hosts Halloween Trunk or Treat!  On behalf of the WBNA, Kohn Photo will be capturing the night creatures and posting their images on the Neighborhood Association Facebook page so that you may share with your friends and family and Party Face Fotos will be there with their photo booth courtesy of WB MUD.  Wells Branch Community Church will be serving up Hallowienies (hotdogs) to all the hungry little Trick-or-Treaters and a plethora of enthusiastic community members will be on hand with candy.  If you’d like to decorate a car or truck please visit the WB MUD’s special events page for more information.

Town Hall with Travis County             Commissioner Brigid Shea

Pct. 2 Travis County Commissioner Brigid Shea will be holding a Town Hall this Thursday, October 19, at 7pm in the Community Center on Klattenhoff for the purpose of discussing the upcoming bond election. The following link will take you to a wonderful interactive website where you can learn more than you’d ever want to know about the upcoming bonds and how they will impact you personally, as well as Wells Branch. If you just want the short version, Proposition A, the Roadway Capacity Projects Bond impacts Wells Branch by funding the completion of a four-lane divided roadway with bike lanes and sidewalks for Grand Avenue Parkway between Bratton Lane and Crissom Lane, plus the installation of two additional lanes to Grand Avenue Parkway from Crissom Lane to 350 feet north of Roller Crossing. This should help streamline traffic and alleviate many of the issues we’re seeing from increased flow on the narrower neighborhood streets as well as offering some relief to Wells Branch Parkway. Proposition A also contains several Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Improvements. Proposition B is all about Parks. For complete details on ALL the projects, please visit the website above.
 
There’s also a tax impact calculator available at the aforementioned link, however, most of the homes in Wells Branch (everything valued at $300k or less) will see an increase of less than $2 per month.
 
Election Info: Travis County will hold a bond election on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, in conjunction with the scheduled Texas constitutional amendment election. Early voting will begin on Monday, October 23rd, and end on Friday, November 3rd, 2017. For additional information about Early Voting or Election Day polling locations and hours, contact the Travis County Clerk’s Election Division at 512-854-4996 or visit Travis County’s website at https://www.traviscountytx.gov and look for the Elections link.
