Wells Branch is AWESOME!!!  Special THANKS to ALL who participated in our July 4th Silent Auction! Every year just keeps getting better and better!

The Wells Branch Neighborhood Association would like to thank our neighbors for coming out and supporting our organization through the Silent Auction. We had an incredible turnout and broke our record yet again in our efforts to fund our neighborhood activities over the next year.  Our Fourth Fest Silent Auction brought in $5,424.58 last year, up from $5,204.62 the previous year (which was a record).  This year, we raised $7,872.50, an increase of $2,447.92 over last year.  Y’all ROCK!!!

2nd Annual Day of Disc Golf for Veterans

Saturday, August 15
FREE!  •  Check in starts at 9:00am

This Saturday, August 15, the WB Disc Golf Club is hosting an event for veterans: The 2nd Annual Day of Disc Golf for Veterans.  Check in starts at 9:00am and we’ll start playing at 10:00.

Disc Golf 2
Team Red, White & Blue

This event is free for all (veterans and supporters) and is held in partnership with Team Red, White, and Blue (http://www.teamrwb.org/), a non-profit with the mission of “enriching the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity.”

The local disc golf group Women Throwing Frisbees will give a pre-round disc golf clinic to explain the rules of the game. Awards will be given in the veterans division.  Family and friends of veterans can also participate in a “supporters” division.  Loaner discs will be available for people new to the sport who want to play.  Last year, over 30 veterans competed in this event, many of them playing the sport for the first time.  The veterans appreciated the event, and supporters were honored to spend time with their veteran fathers, brothers, sisters, mothers, and friends.  Please encourage the veterans you know to come out to the course and play.

Personally, I thought last year’s event was a lot of fun.  I played with several veterans who were new to the sport.  All I can say is, the veterans I played with knew how to aim and shoot!  It was an privilege to spend the day in such good company.

Attention Wells Branch Birders –
Travis Audubon Society                         FREE Purple Martin Party

Saturday, July 18th 7:45-9:00pm
Capital Plaza Shopping Center
5451 N Interstate 35 Frontage Road
Austin, TX 78723

Meet at the Community Center on Klattenhoff at 7:15pm and leave by 7:30pm with those who want to ride together and/or follow along in their own car. OR…meet us at the Capital Plaza Shopping Center per your own schedule.

The Purple Martins are roosting in the Live Oaks near Shepler’s Western Wear. Enter the Plaza through the main entrance just before Target. At the stop sign, turn right or left and find a parking spot. The birds will come to roost in the Live Oaks along the main drive between the stop sign and the end of the drive.

Watch a hurricane of birds as hundreds of thousands of Purple Martins “swirl” into their roosting site at the Capital Plaza Shopping Center each evening. It’s better than the bats!

Binoculars are optional. Lawn chairs, cameras, and hats or umbrellas are highly recommended

We look forward to enjoying this amazing bird show together.
