Ready to Go Wild? Please join us in celebrating the wonderfully diverse habitats showcased in the Wells Branch park system as well as our own backyards. Every community member is encouraged to share their photographs! This event is sponsored by the Wells Branch Neighborhood Association (WBNA).  The 2025 contest theme is “Wildlife of Wells Branch”Selected photos should reflect the “wild” aspect of local critters, birds, flora, fauna—anything wild—including folks having a “wild” time in the neighborhood. Make plans to capture and submit your favorite images of our wonderful community!  Photos from past and present images will be accepted, but please, no previously selected images.

After September 1, 2024, we will choose from our pool of submitted photos for the 2025 WBNA Limited Edition Calendar.  Winners will be notified no later than September 21, 2024.  The calendar will be available for sale to the public starting September 28, 2024 at The WBNA Arts at the Library marketplace with the proceeds funding the various activities the WBNA supports throughout the year.

Contest Guidelines

  • Photo submission DEADLINE is September 1, 2024.
  • Each photographer may submit up to six photos.
  • At least 13 photos will be chosen – one for each month and one for the cover of the 2025 WBNA Calendar.  If we have an overwhelming response, we may select an additional three photos for the months of October-December 2024.
  • Winning month and cover photographers will receive a complimentary calendar and recognition on the Wells Branch Neighborhood Association website, Facebook page, and in the WBNA Neighborhood News.
  • WBNA reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s).
  • The judging panel will be made up of WBNA Board members and others they appoint. The judges will review and reference the popular community vote.
  • WBNA shall determine winner eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion.  All decisions made by the judges are final.
  • Winning photographers for the WBNA 2025 Calendar Contest will be notified by email no later than September 21, 2024.

Photo Requirements

  • 8” x 10” size in Landscape orientation only.  CRITICAL: Please size your submissions as 8 x 10 format when submitting electronically.
  • The submitting photographer is required to print the photos to be submitted. We display the prints at the Wells Branch Rec Center, 3000 Shoreline Drive.
  • No editing will be done by the WBNA; all photos will be inserted into a generic mat for display and competition.
  • Winners must submit a high resolution (with a minimum resolution of 1240×2048 dpi) finished electronic image file.
  • Photos must be taken within the boundaries of the Wells Branch Neighborhood Association (west of I-35, east of 1325 and between Howard Ln. and Grand Avenue Pkwy.)
  • Selected photos should reflect aspects of community spirit as seen through the events, people, and places within Wells Branch.  Get ready to capture and submit your favorite images of our wonderful neighborhood!
  • The WBNA will NOT be responsible for permissions for photos of people as this is the responsibility of the individual photographer(s).
  • Past (unpublished) or current photos may be submitted.
  • Each individual entrant may submit up to six (6) photographs.

How to Submit Photos

  • File out and print one entry form for each photo at this link:  https://tinyurl.com/WBNA2025Cal
  • Print up to six (6) photos per photographer and turn in to the main desk at the Rec Center at 3000 Shoreline Dr. in an envelope clearly marked “WBNA Calendar Contest” with your name and the completed entry form(s) enclosed.
  • After Submitting your entry form(s) please email an electronic copy of your images to MMSufke@gmail.com.

Eligibility: The Contest is open to all residents of Wells Branch, Willow Run, The Lake at Wells Branch, Brookside, and Stoneridge and the following out-of-district HOAs: Brattonwood, Bratton Glen, and Bratton Hill.  There is no age limit.  We’d love to see the talent of some of our younger photographers!

Entry Terms and Conditions:  The goal of the Contest is to obtain original photographs that reflect the spirit of Wells Branch.  Each photo should have a caption related to the contest theme to be published in the WBNA 2025 calendar. The calendar will showcase the talent of Wells Branch photographers and build awareness of the WBNA’s community involvement. Photographers are requested to submit up to six images with original captions that depict the contest theme.  Watermarks will disqualify photo entries.  You must take the following steps to enter the Contest.

  1. Take or select a previously taken photograph that reflects a vision or the community spirit of Wells Branch and include a written description.
  2.   Fill out and submit the online entry form between May 15, 2024 – September 1, 2024 by following this link:  https://tinyurl.com/WBNA2025Cal to submit your “Wells Branch Community Calendar” Contest photo entry.  Place the completed entry form in an envelope and include the printed photo with your entry form.  Note:  Each photograph you submit in the Contest must be your own original work and must not have been previously published in any other commercial publication.
  3. Submit your completed official Contest entry form and photograph, in an envelope labeled “WBNA” at the WB MUD Rec. Center Front Desk at 3000 Shoreline Dr.  Note: Each photo entered requires a separate entry form, limited to six (6) per entrant.  Photos and accompanying entry forms may be submitted together in one envelope.  Additional entries will be taken through September 1, 2024.  Winners will be announced on or before September 21, 2024.

Sponsor (WBNA) will not be able to return any entry materials.  Sponsor will not be responsible for incomplete, illegible, unviewable, low-resolution, unprintable, lost or late entries, all of which will be disqualified.  Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Contest.  Sponsor further reserves the right to disqualify any entry that is alleged to infringe on any third-party’s intellectual property or other rights, or that Sponsor deems to be, in its sole discretion, obscene, offensive or otherwise inappropriate for viewing by a general audience.

Contest Prizes:  Depending on the final design of the WBNA 2025 calendar, Sponsor will select a minimum of thirteen (13) and a maximum of sixteen (16) winners in the Contest.  A photograph of each winner’s submission will be published in the WBNA 2025 Calendar.  Winners will not receive any cash or other prizes in this Contest except for the publication and display of their winning entries as described in these Official Rules and one (1) calendar for each photo chosen.

Photograph specifications:  Each photograph must be in print format with digital images in JPG format supplied with a minimum resolution of 1240×2048 dpi.  No film submissions will be accepted for entry into this Contest.  Photographs that fail to meet these specifications will automatically be disqualified.

Permission to Use Entry Photography:  By entering the Contest, each contestant agrees that Sponsor and its licensees may publish his/her/their captioned photograph in the WBNA 2025 calendar and exhibit, copy, publish, make derivative works from or otherwise use his or her entry photograph and other entry materials for any purpose, in any media, in perpetuity, without limitation or additional compensation.  These rights include exclusive first worldwide publication rights in and to all entries.

Judging:  All eligible Contest entries will be judged by a panel of judges without knowledge of the photographer’s identity.  All decisions of the Contest Judges will be final and binding in all respects.  The judging will be based on the following criteria:  (50%) artistic quality, and (50%) relationship of the photographs subject to the Contest theme.  In the event of a tie, the photograph with the higher artistic quality score will win.  Winners will be notified on or before September 21, 2024.  Sponsor’s inability to contact a winner may result in that winner’s disqualification and the selection of a substitute winner from among all remaining eligible entries.

General Conditions:  Your entry in this Contest constitutes your consent to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the Sponsor and the Contest Judges, and to the use of your entry information and your photography in accordance with these official rules and the terms and conditions stated on the official Contest Entry Form.  By entering the Contest, you agree to Sponsor’s and its licensees’ use of your name, likeness, and biographical information in any media for any commercial, advertising or trade purpose without limitation or further compensation, unless prohibited by law.  By entering the Contest, you further agree to release and hold harmless Sponsor and its members, subsidiaries, affiliates, and promotional agencies, and all of their respective directors, officers, employees and agents, from any and all liability, claims, injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising from or in connection with your participation in the Contest.  Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to suspend, modify or terminate this Contest if it determines that tampering, fraud, or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of Sponsor has corrupted, compromised or impaired the security, integrity, fairness or proper operation of the Contest.

Winner’s List and Official Rules:  2025 Contest winners’ names will be available online at wbna.us on or about September 21, 2024.
