Mini Summer Art Camps

Looking for something really cool for the kids to do this summer?  You’re in luck!  Mini Art Enrichment Camps – great activities and just the right size – half a day – three days a week. Low teacher ratio too and everything you need included in the registration price.  Only $40 per week with proceeds benefiting WB Trees for Trails and RA Science Lab.  There are a few spaces available in each of the remaining  sessions.  Both locations are in the neighborhood and are fundraisers and partially tax deductible.  Ask for tax certificate if needed.

General Sessions: Ages 7-11

6/19- 6/21 Incredible Insects: Bees and dragonflies to spiders and crawly things –This week our campers are going crazy for critters! They will learn all sorts of facts about insects and keep their eyes peeled for any critters outside. Campers will create their own multi-legged critters in a variety of ways this week. Campers will be painting symmetrical butterflies and making eatable insect snacks. Renaissance Academy 512-252-2277

6/26 – 6/28 -.Wild & Wacky Art of Science I: We will learn about volcanoes and fossils and make projects based on a variety of natural science (and not so normal) in messy ways. Try our hand at crystals, create a multi-layer landform, and try out some archaeological tricks on our fossil boxes. We will exploring GREEN and space projects. Renaissance Academy 512-252-2277

7/10 – 7/12 Art Around the World: We’ll explore types of art around the world making masks, representations of folk art designs, painting on eggs and batik fabric, making clay totem poles, learn calligraphy. Renaissance Academy 512-252-2277

7/17 – 7/19 Wild & Wacky Art of Science II: Experiments and more –We’ll create a number of materials and explore how things work. We will create a roboto from all kinds of electronic parts, create dancing goop, see how a chromatograph works, make an electrical conducting fruit, create cornstarch clay and use it to make all kinds of fun things, check out prisms and colloidal reactions. 7/24 – 7/26 Exploring Mixed Media Art: We will experiment with a variety of materials. Just bring your imagination, we’ll provide supplies and inspiration. We’ll try our hand at using fabrics and found objects, foam core board and canvass, glass, tile and paper clay, beads and buttons, nuts and bolts, wrapping paper and wall paper, glitter, glue and glazes. 7/31 – 8/2 Modern Art Painting: We will begin by learning color mixing then use methods from a number of modern artists to create a design to paint. We will use a variety of media and surfaces.  We may even try pop art with tie dying. We will look at art by many artists including Picasso, Dali, Chagall, Pollock, and many more. Junior sessions (age 5-7)(K/pre-K/1)

7/10 – 7/12 Dr. Seuss is back at camp: Each session we’ll read a book then create art projects based on them. We may focus on hats, feet, or other less well known books. We’ll do painting, drawing and sculpting with clay. Renaissance Academy 512-252-2277
